Bose Ultra Open Earbuds
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds deliver best-in-class audio and controls for the open-ear category, with exceptional comfort and a refined design that reflects the premium price point. Call quality is adequate but not a strength, and at $300 the value proposition depends heavily on how much the open-ear format matters to you.

Why it earned certification
Bose sets the audio standard for open-ear earbuds with the Ultra Open. The sound is full and rich — the best in the category tested — while still delivering the ambient awareness that defines the format. The controls are equally impressive: physical buttons with a satisfying click provide tactile confirmation that’s notably easier to use reliably than the touch controls on competing products.
Comfort is exceptional. The clip-on design applies so little pressure that the earbuds are barely perceptible when worn. Fit is secure with no movement during normal activity. The pearlized finish on the case resists fingerprints and looks polished, though the case can be slippery to handle.
The Bose app delivers the full customization suite expected at this tier, including multipoint managed simply within the app. One limitation: the Ultra Open Earbuds have fewer in-app features than other Bose earbuds, which is worth knowing if you’re coming from another Bose product. Call quality meets expectations but falls short of the audio performance elsewhere — adequate for casual calls, not ideal for professional use. Battery life at 7 hours per charge with no quick charge option is modest for a $300 product, though the 1-hour full charge time helps offset that.
